True Knowledge…or Mere Information?

The promise of the internet is the possibility of quick access to all ‘knowledge’.  But what we really get is mere information, even when a search engine arranges it in such a way as to appear ordered.  But true knowledge requires the disciplining of the intellect. Above all it requires discernment as to which thoughts and ideas bring life and which simply weigh us down needlessly or even are false and harmful.  Furthermore, true wisdom requires experience, and experience is only gained through a disciplined engagement with the world and the needs, hopes and fears of other real persons, of which there are few, if any, on the internet.  For persons are bodies, too.
