Ora et labora. | Pray and work.
Benedictine life revolves around humble work and the flowering of contemplative prayer. The primary daily work of most of the brothers is simple and in service of basic communal needs: cooking, cleaning, laundry, gardening and repairing buildings and machinery. We also have several industries that help to support our life.
Benedictine B&B: Our Bed and Breakfast is one of the most popular in the city of Chicago. We combine a great location with monastic hospitality to give our guests a memorable experience of the city. Most brothers contribute to the work of the B&B through cleaning, cooking breakfast, or welcoming guests. For more information, or to make a reservation, please click here.
Gift Shop: Our shop carries various items made at monasteries or reflecting monastic spirituality.
After ever Sunday Mass we invite you to visit our gift shop on the lower level of the church. This year, in addition to our usual selection of custom-roasted coffees, books on monastic and liturgical spirituality, rosaries and icons, we are featuring two new titles: St. Bernard of Clairvaux’s Sermons for Advent and the Christmas Season and Fr. Stephen Freeman’s Everywhere Present.
