Retreats
Guest House for Retreatants
We welcome men and women interested in deepening their spiritual lives. In the ancient monastic tradition of hospitality, we invite you to join us in seeking God in prayer, silence, and solitude.
We offer you hospitality for a few hours, a day, a few days or longer in one of our two guest houses. Ascension House & Saint Michael House – both comfortable 19th century houses on the monastery grounds- each offer 3 individual guest rooms, shared bath, kitchen and common rooms.

While in the shadow of busy, hurried downtown Chicago, we provide a quiet, prayerful, unhurried space for reflection and prayer.
We are able to receive guests between Tuesday morning through Sunday noon.
The Sacrament of Reconciliation
The priests of the Monastery celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation by appointment. Call (773) 927-7424, ext. 202 to speak to our Guestmaster, Br. Edward.
Because of unexpected circumstances, we are temporarily unable to offer spiritual direction for guests. Please check back on this page at a later date to see if we are offering this service.
Reservations
Reservations are advised. A deposit of $25.00 is requested at the time of reservation, though we ask guests to contribute as they are able.
The monastery is easily reached by public transportation or taxi from either of Chicago’s airports, the Amtrak station, and the Greyhound bus terminal. The Monastery parking area is next to the retreat house.
- Located just south of the loop.
- Only minutes from downtown and Midway Airport.
- Served by CTA buses and the Orange Line elevated train.
- Off-street parking available.
