Featured composers are Josquin and Palestrina. The monks will offer traditional Gregorian chant.
The Octave of Christmas is a time to meditate more deeply on the Incarnation, and the “Mystical Antiphons” of Josquin are inspirational in their mysterious musical and spiritual depth. Palestrina’s setting of the popular Marian hymn “Ave maris stella” (“Hail, Star of the Sea”) is a worthy companion, setting forth multiple Old Testament prefigurations of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
