The Feast of the Presentation (formerly known as the Purification of the Blessed Virgin Mary) marks forty days after Christmas, and is one of the liturgical transitions from the Incarnation to the Passion of Christ. It is the day on which the infant Christ was brought to the temple to be offered by his Mother, the day on which the aged prophet Simeon predicted His Passion, by which the Gentiles would be drawn to the one true God.
