Retreats
We welcome men and women interested in deepening their spiritual lives. In the ancient monastic tradition of hospitality, we invite you to join us in seeking God in prayer, silence, and solitude.
We open our Ascension Guesthouse on Tuesday morning each week and close it after Mass on Sunday. Guests may make a retreat ranging in length from a few hours to as many as five nights. There are three individual guest rooms, and shared facilities (shared bath, shared kitchen, and common rooms) available to retreatants, as well as a 2nd floor balcony that looks over the Monastery church.
Retreatants are invited to join the monks in the monastic refectory for two meals each day: dinner (the main meal of the day), which takes place immediately after Sext, and collation (a light evening meal), which takes place immediately after Vespers. Both meals are taken in silence, with either a public reading by one of the monks or quiet music. Simple breakfast fare is available in the guesthouse.
We do not presently provide spiritual direction for retreatants.
The recommended retreat donation is $40 per night. We invite all to contribute as their means permit.
For more information, or to make a reservation, please contact our Guestmaster Father Timothy at (773) 927-7424 ext. 202, or by email at bedandbreakfast@chicagomonk.org.
The Sacrament of Reconciliation
The priests of the Monastery offer the Sacrament of Reconciliation by appointment. Guests should make these arrangements with the Guestmaster prior to their arrival.
